This painting is one of a series of landscapes I've painted directly onto the covers of notebooks and travel journals.
 
In the Field Notes series, I am exploring how we document and recall our journeys through the landscape. The books in which we would usually record our memories - and in which an artist might make preparatory sketches - have become the surfaces for the finished paintings.
